The Regional Sales Representative (RSR) is the front-line contact between the company and our customer base within a specific geographic region.  This individual has significant experience of various scrap metal processes and systems as well as different scrap feedstocks, and output commodities produced.  The RSR will engage with existing and potential customers with a primary focus to grow sales and grow our customer base within their assigned territory. The RSR’s activities are key to growing WENDT’s sales and footprint, maintaining relationships with existing customers and building successful relationships with new customers.  Additional key objectives of the RSR are to:

  • Ensure WENDT is aware and able to compete on all potential shredder, non-ferrous and wire chopping capital projects at each shredder location in their territory.
  • Increase rotor, equipment-only and standard processing system sales in assigned territory while also growing castings/wear parts sales.
  • Understand the management structure, currently installed equipment, business goals and objectives (short term/long term) of each customer in the assigned territory.

Essential Functions:
1. Present, promote and sell products/services using content developed by WENDT Business Development Managers, knowledge of customers operational needs, industry knowledge and general sales acumen.
2. Take the lead on rotor/casting, equipment only, standardized solution, and standard equipment with optional custom integration sales opportunities within your assigned territory.
3. Support Business Development Managers on custom project work sales opportunities within your assigned territory.
4. Understand the business case behind your customer’s needs and our recommended solutions and be able to display and articulate why our solutions offer optimal value.
5. Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers and build successful relationships with new customers.
6. Perform customer site visits with the intention of identifying customer needs, developing relationships and progressing current sales opportunities.
a. Responsible for communicating technical details from the field back to
WENDT, specifically to Business
Development, Technical Support, and Management.
b. Responsible for developing sales opportunities on site and selling the
value of a WENDT solution.
7. Utilize Wendt implemented systems for logging, tracking and documenting progress on your sales opportunities from inception through close.
8. Responsible for ensuring WENDT has knowledge of all sales opportunities in your assigned territory.
9. Coordinate sales efforts with the Business Development Managers, Sales Engineering, Marketing, Technical Support, Service and other members of the sales team.
10. Work with Technical Support and Service groups to expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.
11. Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Ten (10) years minimum Scrap Recycling industry-specific experience.
• Five (5) years in a Customer Service/Sales position desirable.
Has a clear understanding of the Automobile Shredder and Scrap Recycling industries.
• Has an understanding of basic scrap recycling processes and the commodities they generate
• Has an understanding of best practices, best available technology and equipment used in the Automobile Shredder and Scrap Recycling industries.
• Skilled in establishing, fostering and maintaining customer relationships with openness to feedback

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the general accounting reconciliations, financial analysis, and preparation of the company’s financial statements.

• Perform the timely and accurate month end close of the general ledger, including: prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information, prepare consolidating and elimination entries, and review preliminary drafts of financial statements to identify and resolve significant variations to budget/forecast prior to distribution.

• Preparation of accurate monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts in corporate ledgers, ensuring that all discrepancies and reconciling items are resolved prior to financial statement distribution. Use reasonable assumptions when analyzing more complex accounts, such as self-insured insurance reserves. Perform variance analyses on spending accounts to insure expenses are reasonable and properly recorded in accordance to plan.

• Additional responsibilities

    1. Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance (GAAP) and internal policies & procedures.
    2. Prepare monthly financial reporting package for executive management team.
    3. Responsible for treasury management and cash reporting, which includes: maintaining the corporate cash accounts and the revolving line of credit balances on a daily basis; insuring the timely payment of all bank principal, interest and fees on the due dates; acting as the bank liaison which includes administering the online banking website, coordinating bank account modifications, resolving service or other various issues with bank and resolving any bank fee anomalies; distributing internal cash forecast reports on a regular
    4. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual schedules required for bank covenant compliance and email them to the appropriate lender parties.
    5. Prepare all schedules required by broker for annual renewal of all lines of insurance, including G/L, Property, Workers’ Compensation, Cargo, Umbrella, Crime and D&O.
    6. Assist with annual income tax return preparation. Complete materials requested by the tax firm on a timely basis. Coordinate filing of any other Federal tax filings (i.e. FBAR’s and 5500’s), multi-state franchise taxes, and other State income and business tax compliance requirements. Respond to tax notices.
    7. Coordinate the annual 401 (k) fiduciary review and the related tax compliance requirements.
      1. Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget and

    9. Perform project cost reviews (estimate vs. actual)
    10. Assist with cycle count/physical inventories.
    11. Analyze and monitor inventory levels
    12. Support fixed asset acquisition and R&D justification projects

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Public accounting or manufacturing cost experience desired
• 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience
• Microsoft Office products with advanced proficiency in Excel and financial consolidation tools

The Electrical Designer is responsible for designing and detailing products for use in the company’s core product lines. Responsibilities include designing and detailing capital equipment and electrical hardware used in the metal recycling industry. Work will generally be done under the guidance of an Engineer or other more senior staff member.

• Utilize mastery of solid modeling and CAD skills to design, assemble and detail parts, assemblies, and schematics for internal and 3rd party equipment
• Work with senior engineering staff to ensure designs are released and available in a timely matter to meet project schedule.
• Provide technical support to the supply chain team and foster an environment that encourages suggestions and product improvements from the supply chain.
• Learns and follows established work practices.
• Produce high quality drawings to company standards.
• Able to both create designs from scratch as well as derivative designs from existing products.
• Employ Design for Manufacturing (DFM) rules to achieve maximum cost benefit to produce parts and assemblies.
• Leverage commonality and library components to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Education and Experience:
• Associates of Arts (AS) degree in Electrical Design or Engineering similar curriculum or equivalent experience is required. Bachelors of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering Technology Preferred.
• 2-5 years of demonstrated work experience in preparing electrical drawings, including single lines, schematics, electrical bills of material, equipment layouts, cable schedules, etc.
• Basic knowledge of electrical equipment, components, wiring for Low Voltage 3-phase and single phase systems AC and DC.
• AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent solid modeling tools experience. AutoCAD Inventor preferred.
• Highly skilled in solid and parametric modeling, as well as solid modeling data management, and schematic capture.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes; panel building, welding, steel fabrication, plate cutting, and machining.
• Strong drafting skills, particularly; electrical schematics, weldments, sheet metal, machining, and general arrangement drawings.
• Understands basic MRP and ERP procedures as they pertain to manufacturing.
• Comprehension of costed bills of materials and their use in designing and building equipment.

• Diagnose and repair equipment either in our own shop or by travelling to the location of the customer.
• Install and commission new equipment at the customer site.
• Ensure customer satisfaction at all times as a priority.
• Test and calibrate equipment to ensure it is meeting minimum performance standards.
• Provide telephone, email, and text support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting or training.
• When not in the field, perform equipment assembly and test in the shop to support manufacturing and/or any other work in the shop for which they are qualified.
• Supervise, instruct, direct, and assign work to shop employees who may be at a customer site assisting with work there and be responsible for the work they oversee.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the equipment and processes by providing timely and organized feedback to the company.
• Prepare and distribute required reports in a timely manner.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma
• Advanced vocational degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial equipment industry
• Experience traveling to perform service or installations preferred
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
• Basic computer skills for email, word processing, and using the internet.
• Advanced computer skills preferred, such as; PC OS/admin, installing/repairing networks, and similar skills.
• Experience using one or more of the following tools: lathe, milling machine, drill press, and/or vertical/horizontal cut off saw.
•  Advanced mechanical aptitude, preferably with heavy machine building experience.
• Advanced hydraulic and/or electrical installation and/or repair experience preferred.
• Basic rigging experience.  Advanced experience with large outdoor lifts preferred.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar curriculum or equivalent work experience is required.
• 3-5 years project/design engineering experience preferred
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or equivalent solid modeling software.
• Highly skilled in solid and parametric modeling, as well as solid modeling data management.
• Knowledge in structural software RISA and Tekla preferred.
• FEA experience preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes; welding, steel fabrication, plate cutting, and machining.
• Willingness to participate in a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Design and implement plant and facilities engineering activities/projects ensuring that budgets, schedules, and objectives are achieved

• Work closely with the Shop Supervisors to identify, develop, and produce work instructions for standard work that will increase efficiency in the shop
• Work closely with Supply Chain staff to prepare work for outsourcing to ensure cost and quality goals are met
• Identify, define, and execute Kaizen events on a regular basis both in the Office and the Shop
• Generate cost estimates to support Sales and Service groups
• Collaborate and cooperate at a high level with shop personnel, supply chain, engineering, project management, and all other areas of the company
• Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential improvements
• Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness and provide feedback along with suggested corrective actions to the Shop Supervisors and Management
• Travel to Supplier sites as needed to ensure quality and performance
• Perform other duties as assigned and required

Education and Experience:
• B.S. degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent education, preferred
• 0-3 years of experience in an engineer-to-order and/or an OEM environment in a similar role
• CLP and/or any other advanced Lean certification preferred
• Completion of the Six Sigma training preferred
• Experience in a heavy metal fabrication environment preferred
• Experience with using CNC equipment and Autodesk Inventor preferred
