120" (14) Spider Rotor shown with over 1.5 million shredded ferrous tons

The rotor is the heart of all shredders. Wendt’s proprietary Spider Rotor design is considered by many as the best in the business. Our customers consistently get greater than 1.5 million shredded ferrous tons. Our proprietary Spider Rotor design is characterized by:

  • Open 4 arm rotor design to better tolerate unshreddables when compared to Disc and 6 arm rotors. (One of our spider rotors passed a wrecking ball through the shredder without damage!)
  • Spiders are constructed with an unusually tough heat treated custom alloy steel that has been developed with the ideal blend of strength and toughness for this specific application.
  • Spiders are heated, assembled on the rotor shaft and cooled for a heavy interference fit.
  • Spider and rotor shaft with precision machined keys.
  • Full helmet cap on each spider and fully capped end discs.
  • Rotor plugs clamp and firmly seat helmet caps in place in addition to the hammer pins.
  • Most powerful, hardest hitting rotors in the business with dual position manganese hammers

The 82 Heavy™ Shredders utilizes all free swinging hammers, and has 1 pin position.

The 106 Heavy™ and 130 Heavy™ Shredders utilize 2 pin position hammers with lay-back and free swinging or optionally can be dressed with all free swinging hammers.

Long, Mid, and Short hammers can be mounted in all our rotors to
compensate for grate and anvil wear and maintain optimum density
throughout the grate life cycle.
