XRF
The X-Tract® XRF is designed to process ferrous shred from
an automobile shredding operation and targets free copper
and copper meatballs with unsurpassed levels of accuracy
and efficiency.
The X-Tract® XRF x-ray-based sorting machine uses Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometric equip-
ment to enable the fast and effective recovery of copper from shredded ferrous scrap. The performance capabilities of the
XRF allows it to be used by scrap processors and steel manufacturers as well.

The X-Tract® Separator uses dual energy X-ray
Transmission imaging, which provides a wide range of
material classification possibilities, such as material’s
average atomic density, shape, and internal structure,
without sensitivity to surface contamination.
Typical feed stock for the X-Tract® Separator includes
Zorba and Zurik materials in the ¼” to 8” particle size
range. Airbag canisters can also be identified and ejected
from aluminum flow.
This innovation opens new frontiers in efficient processing
of recovered valuable materials and totally eliminates the
need for heavy media separation.
