PSC Metals, Inc selects
Wendt 106 Heavy Shredder
The shredder success story continues for Wendt Corporation (Tonawanda, NY) as the company recently announced the sale of yet another HEAVY Shredder. PSC Metals, Inc. located in Canton, OH has purchased a Wendt 106 HEAVY Shredder to replace their 1970s vintage 96104 Hammermill Shredder. The main reason cited for selecting Wendt was because the equipment offers a shredding philosophy similar to their Hammermill by incorporating both a 4-arm Spider Rotor and an adjustable cutter bar.
The 106 HEAVY Shredder features a 4 arm Spider Rotor that offers 2 pin positions for the 680 lb. long and 510 lb. short hammers to maximize both productivity and hammer life. The combination of long and short hammers with an adjustable cutter bar allows PSC to maintain very good density for low copper, throughout the life of their self supported grates. Their primary goal is to produce a high grade product with the lowest copper content possible to meet the exacting standards of their client base. The new shredder will be powered by a 6,000 HP Schorch motor. The new HEAVY Shredder line is based on the ideal relationship between Hammer Swing Diameter, available motor RPM and travel speed of the Hammers as well as offering more robust construction, fully beveled welds and interlocking fabrication.
PSC Metals, Inc. also purchased ferrous and non-ferrous downstream solutions. The ferrous downstream system incorporated two (2) 60"x84" Steinert Axial Pole Mags, a Z Box and dual 60W picking conveyors. The non-ferrous solution featured a Tumble Back Feeder, Square Trommel, Bivitec Screen, a Wendt Eddy Current Separator and a 96" Wendt/SSE Finder.
