Separation Systems Engineering GmbH (SSE) of Wedel Germany offers high-tech metals detection and sorting equipment that is the next logical step for shredder operators to increase revenues. While SSE's product line is very diverse it can be broken into two simple categories of Metal Recovery and Metal Sorting.

• Metal Recovery: Stainless steel, insulated copper wire and other missed metals can now be recovered from eddy current waste streams or the discharge of an air cyclone.
• Metals sorting: Heavy media separation is now no longer a requirement. Aluminum can be individually X-tracted from a flow using x-ray density separation. The remaining heavies can also be separated into copper, brass, and zinc.
